Yeah right. Like I am going to sit here and try to give you advice on how to focus or even pretend to be an expert on the subject. I guess that at this time in my life I can tell you that I have gotten better at it but I still find myself distracted at times. Sometimes I find that my brain just wanders off on it’s own without my permission, and I have to actually call it like “Hey get your butt back here!” LOL! Yeah I know it’s weird but I feel like having focus is a skill that needs to be physically worked on in order to fine tune it to the point that it becomes a perfected habit. Even as I type this blog for you I feel my thoughts wanting to travel off on there own. Yesterday at my second job I did try something new. What I did was I would catch myself completely out of focus and I would then place my hands over my face, lean back in my chair, think about what it is that I need to be focusing on, and breath deeply 3 to 5 times and tell myself “I am going to focus on this for 5 minutes without interruption!” At that point it is almost like a challenge I take on against my brain not to be distracted. This seemed to have the most success for me with regards to keeping focus for short periods of time. Later I will upgrade my personal focus challenge to 10 minutes then 20, and so on.
