College students and coffee is beginning to be a love and marriage type of thing. I plan on doing a few college runs to promote the new RED&BLACK Javaboi mugs next month and as I visit the campus’s of local colleges I begin to feel like the Starbucks or Coffee Bean coffee cup has become a fashionable accessory. Everywhere I go I see college students downing their coffee. No wonder they have such high amounts of energy. I mean, don’t get me wrong… These kids need their energy! Finals, Mid-Terms, Social Events, Party’s, Boring lectures, Relationships, Putting up with old fashioned parents, working as Strippers, or Barista’s to put themselves through school, and the list goes on and on.. Yes these people need their coffee. My plan is to see how these students connect with Javaboi. Do people just see him as a cute little character or do they add more to it. Sadly I see a lot of brands become successful without any thought behind the meaning of the brand. I guess that is truly how the world really is. If you like something you buy it. If you don’t you won’t. Period. So far I haven’t had any negative feedback with regards to Javaboi and the “Cute Coffee Awesomeness” campaign thus far. I do plan on going to the local college and exchanging a few free gifts in exchange for some word of mouth advertising and maybe a few new email addresses to add to my email list.

Anyway, are you a college student? Do you need coffee to get you through the day? If so when do you need your coffee most? During lectures, to wake up, during study sessions or some other time?

Let me know.

Have a great day!

Well you know what they say, good things come for those who keep bothering me to make Javaboi mugs! Okay so I don’t have them done yet but I have a date of arrival (hey that’s better than nothing right? LOL!!) The release date for the the new Javaboi mug will be July 15, 2012! I am extremely excited about this new product, and I can not wait to see your responses once they are released. I have named the new Javaboi mug Red & Black which are my 2 favorite colors together. Some may think I am weird for naming a mug but hey it’s my baby and that is what I do… Anyway, I have already began to email some of you with regards to putting one or 2 or 4 (thanks Franki) away for you when they are released. I want my VIP’s to have first shot at purchasing these beauty’s. If you would like for me to place one or more on hold for you, email me at eric@javaboiindustries.com and I will reply with a confirmation. Anyway that’s all for now my friends!

I have given myself a limit of 2 years to get Javaboi where I need it to be, which means I have some major overhauling to do with regards to my state of mind and my brands status in the marketplace. Lately I have done nothing but expressed how hurt I am regarding the recent series of events and the separation of blah blah blah…. Anyway I wanted to let you all know that I am grinding through this pain the best I can, and I am visiting some old friends again! Johnny Cupcakes, Neff, The Hundreds, and Paul Frank! If you have followed my brand up until this point you’d know that I admire the aforementioned brands with a passion. My plan is to be able to find Javaboi’s place next to with regards to sales, and that IS SOMETHING I WILL DO! Last night after I got off work I began pricing mugs again, and next I will move to tanks and fitted hats. I know it has been a minute since I put out something new, and I thank you for your patience but when I produce the next products you will have your hand directly in the creative process, so I am sure you will not be disappointed. Sorry for the delay, but emotions have had me in the choke hold for a while.. I am trying to work through it and free myself completely.

Much love
Eric Johnson

Silly subject? Maybe. LOL! Regardless, I wanted to know how many of you Javaboi Boy’s and Girl’s set your coffee maker to Auto-brew? I have develop’d this habit after trying it a few times to shave a few minutes off of my morning craze. To be perfectly honest, whenever the coffee begins brewing at 4am there is no need for my alarm to go off, reason being is because the combination of the sound of coffee brewing alone with the aroma does more for my senses than any alarm ever could. Not saying I don’t set my alarm any more just saying I am up usually before it began’s its annoying WAKE UP noise.

I have been in a products slump that I am just now beginning to recover from my friends. Running a business is hard especially when you’re me and your circumstances are a bit more challenging than the average entrepreneur. With that said, I have accepted all challenges fully and I don’t plan on quitting any time soon. So anyway, I am hoping to have the fitted hats out really soon, like mid summer. I really hope my true fans like them. I have taken time to pay extreme attention to detail.

Well I hope you guys liked the post

Ever since I started my brand I knew deep down inside that I wanted it to become more than just a brand for coffee lovers. In fact I wanted people to see the Javaboi logo and think “Go-Getter”. I find myself wondering just how I can make my brand become synonymous with attributes that the goal oriented individuals of today have embedded within their lifestyles. Attributes such as ambition, drive, consistency, passion, and discipline. Personally, I am a person who likes to practice what I preach, in addition to leading by example. With that said I will share with you some of the tools that have been a great help to me with regards to Self-Development and motivation.

1 – http://thecompoundeffect.com/ This is an excellent source of inspiration for anyone in my opinion. I would describe The Compound Effect as a personal success-How To Guide. This publication is by Darren Hardy, Founder of Success Magazine and is available in both written and audio format. I listen to the audio and take notes daily.

2 – http://www.success.com/products/764-living-your-best-year-ever-by-darren-hardy The Living Your Best Year Ever publication comes with a personalized journal designed for the user to track his/her progress with regards to following the program day by day. The program also includes 4 instructional audio CD’s and some free online downloads. I highly recommended this for anyone seeking to make dramatic life changes.
My goal is to get some custom shirts done when I go visit my children in Vegas. I won’t be able to use my regular screen printer because this is a custom job, so chances are I will have to go to the mall and do it. Never the less, I have had a blast making the designs. I think the main reason I enjoyed doing these so much is because I am imagining the priceless look on my children’s face when they see them. I am not certain if I will place Javaboi on the front or back of the shirt but I guess I will need to make a decision soon. Above is my daughter Makiah aka Bubbaphat. She is a sweetie pie and very independent. She is also 4 years old and thinks she knows everything. I love her with all my heart, and can’t wait to see her.

This Javashirt will be hot when I am done with it. My son Malikai, aka Boppy is the star in this shirt! I added some of the things he loves on the design as well… Snails, rabbits, shapes and other animals. His favorite colors are also apart of the design, and I know he will love the photo! Again, I can’t wait until he see’s it! Maybe I will make a video out of their reactions for you guys!

In the prior designs you may notice that I had sort of a cut out artistic look to the photos on the design. I couldn’t do that to this one because it would have taken away from my daughters “cute factor”. This is M’kiela aka BUBBLE EYE ELLA! All decisions made have to be ran by her prior to approval. She is the youngest but she is extremely smart and loves both her brother and sister so much. She has me wrapped around her little pinky and I do whatever she tells me to. She is my Kryptonite and even if I tell her no when she asks for something I don’t approve of at the time i.e. chocolate, snacks or juice, I find myself telling her no as I proceed to get her what she wants me to get her. I am puddy in this lil girls hands and she knows it.

Lately, I have prided myself on reading a chapter of a good book everyday. At this time I am reading the book entitled “Onward” by Howard Schultz, the C.E.O of Starbucks. This book was given to me by Joanna Fitzgerald, a Starbucks Barista. Thanks Jojo! Yeah, I know what you are thinking “What else would I be reading with a company called Javaboi Industries Inc.” Today I thought I would uncover an AHA moment I discovered while reading Chapter 22. As you know I am trying to do whatever I can to make Javaboi a family brand that everyone loves and can count on for a “Freshly Brew’d Smile”. I have embraced the Go-Getter-Lifestyle, and add a little bit of “Cute Coffee Awesomeness” in every product I produce. However, I think what makes my brand a bit different is Jasen Dill, Joelle Salviati, Franki Johnson, Jasmin Ortiz, Kristy Maczuba, Jake Bray, Wendy and David Bentley, Megan Harvey, Salamon Gutierrez, Paula Meeks, Rachel Luna, Jessica Manis, Amanda Hunt, Shawna Capot, Dana Lowther & Dillon, Natima Nichole and many more. I am sorry if I didn’t include your name here but I could go on and on.. What I am trying to illustrate is the fact that I know my fans (friends) on a “more than customer” level. That is what makes company’s stand out in this world full of technology and diminishing attention spans. The company, and company owner who knows what is going on in the lives of his/her customers will always have a visceral following. But I digress. I would like to take this time to read and excerpt from “Onward” the book that inspired todays post

In September 2008, the debate about what the fall of Wall street meant for Main Street was in full swing, and I left Seattle to do a scheduled tour of Starbucks stores in Los Angeles as part of a board meeting. Cliff and two of our directors were visiting stores with me. At a Starbucks in downtown LA, after visiting with the Baristas, Clara Rolan, the store’s manager- who began at Starbucks as a barista in 2003- took us in the back office for a private conversation to discuss her store’s performance. I wanted to know what was selling, and what was not. And what she was witnessing with customers.
“With the economy so bad,” I asked Clara. “How do you keep customers coming back?” Clara paused for a moment before answering.
“I think it would be better if one of our regular customers answers that question,” Clara said. I was unsure whether having a customer in the back office was a good idea, but I deferred to Clara, who walked out of the room and walked back in with a man in a suit. I could not help but notice he had a gun on his hip. “Don’t worry,” he said, noticing me noticing his pistol. “I’m a police officer.” It turned out he was a detective for the Los Angeles Police Department who frequented Clara’s store two or three times a day.
I asked him directly why he came into Starbucks so often.
“I could just as easily go to a 7-Eleven,” he said matter-of-factly.
Then he shared a conversation that he and his wife had at their kitchen table that past weekend as they reviewed their family’s budget, just as millions of other families had been doing of late. “My wife asked whether I could give up my daily Starbucks.” Standing there in the back room, he recounted his reply. “Let me tell you why I cannot give it up. Because it’s not about a cup of coffee. I have a tough job. I see things on a daily basis that no one should see and experience. But the one good thing I can count on every single day is how the people in that store make me feel.” Then he addressed me directly. “I want to tell you about your employees. They know my kid’s names. They know where I go on vacation. They write notes on my coffee cup. I could be seventh in line and they start making my drink.” The Baristas knew he took his grande nonfat latte with two Splendas, extra hot with no foam.
He added that, as a police officer, he understood the importance of treating every person he came in contact with in his job with respect. “You never know what’s going on in people’s lives when you serve them,” he paused. “For all you know, it could be someone’s last day on earth.” Coming from a detective who had seen his share of trauma, this was not a statement he made in jest. “This is my little escape,” he said he finally told his wife. “You just have to allow me that.” And with that, Officer Kevin Coffey-I swear that was his name, Kevin Coffey- Thanked us for our time, hugged Clara, and walked out.
It is one thing for me to espouse the importance of human connection. But hearing it from a customer was just the boost I needed before meeting with the board.

Thanks for reading.
